Liposuction, one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures in Florida and the USA, is the surgical removal of excess fat from areas that are often resistant to diet and exercise, including the hips, thighs, abdomen and neck. Other common sites include the arms, knees, calves and ankles.

Am I good candidate for liposuction?

Your age is not especially important, but older patients may not achieve the same results as a younger patient who have better skin elasticity. Liposuction carries greater risk for individuals with medical problems, or those who have recently had surgery near the area to be contoured.

What should I expect from liposuction?

How is liposuction performed?

Before suctioning the fat, a fluid mixture of intravenous solution containing lidocaine (a local anesthetic) and epinephrine (a drug that contracts blood vessels) is injected into the treatment area to help with fat removal, reduce blood loss, and to numb the area during and after surgery. This technique also helps to reduce the amount of bruising after surgery.

General anesthesia is used during your liposuction procedure, and the procedure is performed at a certified and fully accredited outpatient surgical center.
